Joseph Bathanti

Joseph Bathanti received his M.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and
his M.F.A. from Warren Wilson College. He is currently Professor of
Creative Writing at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and is the
author of four books of poems: Communion Partners, Anson County, The
Feast of All Saints
, and This Metal, which was nominated for the National
Book Award and won the 1997 Oscar Arnold Young Award. He is also the
author of two novels, East Liberty, which won the 2001 Carolina Novel
Award, and Coventry, which won the 2006 Novella Literary Prize. His latest
book, a collection of stories, entitled The High Heart, is the 2006 recipient
of the Spokane Prize for Short Fiction.
