Gary Snyder is the author of fourteen volumes of poetry and prose, including Practice of the Wild and the Pulitzer Prize-winning Turtle Island. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow, and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He teaches at the University of California Davis, and lives with his family in the Sierra foothills. His books of poetry include Mountains and Rivers Without End, from which the poem Hymn to the Goddess San Francisco in Paradise was taken.
